Answer :

The required values are

x = 1

y = 1

Given :

The equations are :

  • 8x - 2y = 6
  • 9x + y = 10

To Find :

  • The value of x and y

Solution :

Considering the following equations as :

\sf \implies 8x - 2y = 6 .........(1)

And

\sf \implies 9x + y = 10 \\\\ \sf \dagger \: \: Multiplying \: the \: above \: equation \: by \: 2 \\\\ \sf \implies 18x + 2y = 20 ..........(2)

Adding (1) and (2) in order to eliminate ‘2y

\sf \implies 8x - 2y + 18x + 2y = 6 + 20 \\\\ \sf \implies 26x = 26 \\\\ \sf \implies x =\dfrac{26}{26} \\\\ \sf \implies x = 1

Using the value of x in (1)

\sf \implies 8\times 1 - 2y= 6 \\\\ \sf \implies -2y = 6-8 \\\\ \sf \implies -2y = -2\\\\ \sf \implies y = 1
