Answer:

x=4

y= -3

Step-by-step explanation:

8x+7y=11

8x=11-7y

x=

 \frac{11 - 7y}{8}

Putting this value of X in eq.2

7x+8y=4

7( \frac{11 - 7y}{8} ) + 8y = 4

 \frac{77 - 49y}{8}  + 8y = 4

  \frac{77 - 49y + 64y}{8}  = 4

77 + 15y = 32

15y = 32 - 77

y =  \frac{ - 45}{15}  =  - 3

x=

 \frac{11 - 7y}{8}  =  \frac{11 - 7( - 3)}{8}  =  \frac{11 + 21}{8}  =  \frac{32}{8}  = 4

Therefore x=4

y= -3
