Hi there!

8y + 4 = 3(y - 1) \\  \\ 8y + 4 = 3y - 3 \\  \\ 8y - 3y =  - 3 - 4 \\  \\ 5y =  - 7 \\  \\ y =  \frac{ - 7}{5}

Verification

8y + 4 = 3y-3 (by putting the value of y )

8(-7/5)+4=3(-7/5)-3

-36/5 = -36/5

L.H.S = R.H.S

Hence verified .

Thankyou :)
