➤ Answer :-

                      \tt \longrightarrow  \dfrac{9}{( - 12)}  +  \dfrac{5}{8}

Convert them into like fractions by taking the LCM of all the denominators i.e, (-12) and 8.

LCM of (-12) and 8 is 24.

 \tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{9 \times ( -2)}{( - 12) \times ( - 2)}  +  \dfrac{5 \times 3}{8 \times 3}

 \tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 18)}{24}  +  \dfrac{15}{24}  =  \dfrac{( - 18) + 15}{24}

 \tt \longrightarrow   \cancel\dfrac{( - 3)}{24}  =  \dfrac{( - 1)}{8}

\Huge\thereforeThe answer is \tt\dfrac{(-1)}{8}

\dashrightarrow Note :-

  • While adding the fractions, if the denominators are unlike fractions, convert them into like fractions by taking LCM of denominators.
  • If they are like fractions, we can add them directly, by adding the numerators.
