Given :   In a national tournament the probability of Pramod toget gold medal is 0,4. The probability of Gunjan toget gold medal is 0,5. The probability of Samir toget gold medal is 0,6. The probability of Suresh toget gold medal is 0.8.

To find :   What is the probability thatat least 2 of them got gold medal on that day

Solution:

probability of Pramod to get gold medal is 0.4.

probability of Pramod not to get gold medal is 1 - 0.4 = 0.6

probability of Gunjan to get gold medal  is 0.5

probability of Gunjan not to get gold medal  is 1 - 0.5 = 0.5

probability of Samir to get gold medal is 0.6

probability of Samir not to get gold medal is 1 - 0.6 = 0.4

probability of Suresh to get gold medal is  0.8

probability of Suresh not to get gold medal is  1 - 0.8 = 0.2

probability that at least 2 of them got gold medal on that day

= 1  - (none got gold medal or  one got gold medal)

= 1 -  none - pramod got - Gunjan got - Samir got - Suresh got

= 1  -  (0.6)(0.5)(0.4)(0.2)  - (0.4)(0.5)(0.4)(0.2)-(0.6)(0.5)(0.4)(0.2) -(0.6)(0.5)(0.6)(0.2) -  (0.6)(0.5)(0.4)(0.8)

= 1 -  0.024 - 0.016 -  0.024  -  0.036 - 0.096

= 1 - (0.196)

= 0.804

0.804 is the probability that atleast two of them got gold medal
