Let the present age of the son be ‘y’
Then the present age of the father will be ‘2y’
Now, by utilising the info given in the question we can form an equation as follows:
12(y-20) = 2y-20
12y - 240= 2y - 20
12y - 2y = -20 + 240
10y = 220
y = 220/10
y= 22
Thus the present age of the son is 22 years , therefore the present age of the father will be 44 years (2y).
