9. A poster of size 10 cm by 8 cm is pasted on a sheet
of cardboard such that there is a margin of width 1.75 cm along each side of the poster. Find:
(i) the total area of the margin.
(ii) the cost of cardboard used at the rate of 0.60
per cm?​

length of cardboard = length of poster + length of margin

length of cardboard=(10+1.75)cm=11.75cm

breadth of cardboard=(8+1.75)cm=9.75cm

(1)area of margin= area of cardboard - area of poster

since area of rectangle = length*breadth

area of margin = (11.75cm*9.75cm)-(10cm*8cm)

area of margin=(114.5625-80)cm^2

area of margin =34.5625cm square

(2) cost of cardboard at the rate of 0.60per cm = 0.60*area of cardboard

=0.60*114.5625=68.7375rupees
