A pump can fill a tank in 2 hours. Due to a leak in the tank it takes 24 hours to fill the tank. The leak can empty the full tank in how many hours ?

|| ✰✰ ANSWER ✰✰ ||

LCM of 2 and 24 = 24 units = Let Total Capacity of Tank.

Now,

→ Efficiency of Filling pump = (24/2) = 12 units / hour.

Efficiency of Both The Pump = (24/24) = 1 unit / hour.

Now, Let us assume that, Empty pump , move out x unit of water per hour,

so,

(12 - x) = 1

→ x = 11 unit / hour.

So, Empty pump Efficiency is = 11 unit/hour.

Time taken by Empty tank to Empty full tank = (24/11) = 2(2/11) hours.

Hence Empty tank will Empty full tank in 2(2/11) hours.

QUESTION :-

A pump can fill a tank in 2 hours. Due to a leak in the tank it takes 24 hours to fill the tank. The leak can empty the full tank in how many hours ?

ANSWER :-

Let filling pump is = A

Empty leak is B .

A fill the tank full in = 2 hours.

Both fill in = 14 hours.

let the leak empty the tank in = x hour .

so,

=>> 1/2 - 1/x = 1/24

==>> 1/x = 1/2 - 1/24

==>> 1/x = (12-1)/24

==>> 1/x = (11/24)

So ,

x = (24/11) = 2 * (2/11) hours.

So,, Empty tank will Empty full tank in 2(2/11) hours.
