Given :

  • School starts = 8 a.m
  • Gets over at = 1.30 p.m
  • Breaks = 15 minutes and 30 minutes

To find :

  • the ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend in the school.

Solution :

⇒ Let's find total-time students spend in school. And we have to convert it to minutes.

8 am to 1.30 pm = 5 hours 30 minutes

From hours to minutes = 5 × 60 + 30

                                      = 300 + 30

                                      = 330 minutes

⇒ Now, let's add the break time together.

= 15 + 30 minutes

= 45 minutes

⇒ Now, let's find the ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend in the school.

  • Common factors of 330 and 45 are 3,5.

= 330 ÷ 3/45 ÷ 3

  • Common factors of 110 and 5 are 5.

= 110 ÷ 5/15 ÷ 5

  • Since there are no common factors for 22 and 3, we cannot simplfy it any further.

= 22/3

= 22 : 3

Therefore, the ratio is 22 : 3.

To find :

the ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend in the school.

Solution :

⇒ Let's find total-time students spend in school. And we have to convert it to minutes.

8 am to 1.30 pm = 5 hours 30 minutes

⇒ Now, let's find the ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend in the school.

Common factors of 330 and 45 are 3,5.

= 330 ÷ 3/45 ÷ 3

Common factors of 110 and 5 are 5.

= 110 ÷ 5/15 ÷ 5

Since there are no common factors for 22 and 3, we cannot simplfy it any further.

= 22/3

= 22 : 3

Step-by-step explanation:Given :

School starts = 8 a.m

Gets over at = 1.30 p.m

Breaks = 15 minutes and 30 minutes

To find :

the ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend in the school.

Solution :

= 15 + 30 minutes

= 45 minutes

⇒ Now, let's find the ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend in the school.

Common factors of 330 and 45 are 3,5.

Common factors of 110 and 5 are 5.

= 110 ÷ 5/15 ÷ 5

Since there are no common factors for 22 and 3, we cannot simplfy it any further.

= 22/3

= 22 : 3
