9. A stick, assumed to be 1 m long, measured the side of a square field. The area thus calculated
was 625 square metre. Later on, it was discovered that the actual length of the stick is 90
cm. Find the actual area of the square field.

Answer:

506.25 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

When stick is assumed to be 1 m long:

⇒ area of square = 625 m²

⇒ side² = 625 m²

⇒ side = √625m² = 25 m

It means, stick was used 25m/1m = 25 times.

But, since its actual length is 90cm(=0.9m),

Actual length of side = 25 *0.9

                                   = 22.5 m

∴ Area area = side² = (22.5m)²

                    = 506.25 m²

Аreа саlсulаted by аssumed tо be 1 m lоng stiсk = 625 m²

= side suрроsed tо be 25 m оr 2500 сm

But every 1 m is асtuаlly = 90 сm

  • => 25 m = 90 x 25 = 2250 сm
  • > side асtuаl length = 2250 сm

  • => аreа = 22.5 m x 22.5 m

  • => асtuаl аreа = 506.25 m²

So, the actual area of the square field is 506.25 m²
