The complete question is :

An electronic shopkeeper earns a profit of 1800 on the sale of one television and a loss of 800 on the sale of a laptop. the shopkeeper sells 100 television sets and 200 laptops in a month. What is net profit or loss? What number of laptops must the shopkeeper sell to have neither profit nor loss, if the number of television sold is 320?

Answer:

The net profit for the sale of 1800 television and 800 laptops the net profit is Rs 20000 and the number of laptops to be sold is 720.

Solution:

Total number of televisions sold = 100

Profit on each television = 1800

Profit on 100 televisions = 1800\times 100 = 180000

Loss on one laptop = 800

Loss on 200 laptops = 800\times 200 = 160000

So we can clearly see that the total loss is less than the total profit.

Net Profit = total profit - total loss = 180000-160000=20000

Profit when 320 televisions are sold = 320\times 1800 = 576000

Now the loss incurred needs to be of the same amount.

So the number of laptops to be sold to make a loss of 576000

=576000\div 800 = 720

Therefore the shopkeeper must sell a total of 720 laptops so that there is neither profit nor loss.

EXPLANATION.

An electronic store earns a profit of 1800 on sale of one television.

Loss of 800 on many laptops must the store to have neither profit nor loss.

If the number of televisions sold is 320 one laptop.

The store sells 100 televisions and 200 laptops in a month.

We can start solving question as,

Profit of 1800 on sale of one television.

The store sells 100 televisions.

Profits on 100 televisions is ₹ 1800 x 100.

Profits on 100 televisions is ₹ 180000.

Loss of 800 on one laptops.

The store sells 200 laptops in a month.

Loss on 200 laptops = ₹ 800 x 200.

Loss on 200 laptops = ₹ 160000.

Total profit = Profit - loss.

Total profit = 180000 - 160000.

Total profit = 20000.

Profits on 320 televisions sold = 320 x 1800.

Profits on 320 televisions sold = ₹ 576000.

In loss of 800 on many laptops must the store sell to have neither profit nor loss,

⇒ 576000/800 = 720.

∴ The store sell to have neither profit nor loss is 720 laptops.
