Discount =20%

Shaktes = Rs. 1600

He get discount of 20 which means 100 % - 20%

=80 % = \frac{100}{80}

So,

Marked price = \frac{100}{80}  \times selling price

= \frac{100}{80}  \times 1600

 =Rs 2000

Marked price = Rs 2000

Amount paid by Arun to buy skates is ₹ 1,600

Let the Marked price of a pair of skates be x

Discount percentage is 20%

Therefore,

M.P. of skates - Discount = 1600 ------ (1)

where, Discount = Discount% × M.P.

Discount = 20% of x ------- (2)

From equation (1) and (2) we get,

 \sf \: x - 20\%× (x) = 1600

: \longrightarrow \sf  x - \frac{20x}{100}= 1600 \\

 : \longrightarrow \sf   \frac{80x}{100}= 1600 \\

  : \longrightarrow \sf \: x = 1600 × \frac{100}{80}  \\

:\longrightarrow \sf \: x = 2000

 \sf

 \therefore \underline{ \red{\sf \bold{ Marked \: price = 2000}}}
