9. ( As the altitude increases how do the weight and mass of the body vary?
one resting on the ground has a gravitational force of 20 N acting on it. What is the weight
and the mass of the stone ?
(H) If the stone is released from rest from the height:
(a) Find the distance, it falls through in 1 sec.
(b) Find the distance, it falls through in 3 sec , also find the speed with which it strikes the ground
after 3 sec. (g =10 m/s?)

Answer:

mass generally does not change anywhere.but there are cases like when you move the velocity of light or when a body goes near black hole which is impossible.

Explanation:

if you say that a force of 20N is working on an object the you are speaking about its weight and not mass.

For mass you need to divide the weight by g i.e.10

hence your mass of the object is 10kg

for getting the distance you must give the height first.

you can calculate it by using Newton's equations of motion.
