Ex = This is my book ( my is possesive adj.)
They are mainly two types-
- Attributive Adjectives .
- Predicative adjectives.
when an adj. is placed before a noun and qualifies it then it is attributive adj.
ex - The intelligent girl is reading book.
when an adj. is placed before a verb in the predicate part of. a sentence and qualifies a noun or pronoun then it is called predicative adj.
ex- she is very lazy.
However there are eight kinds of adjectives -
- Proper adjectives = it is formed from a proper name . ex - Asian , chinese , Indian .
- Adjective of quality = It denotes the quality ,weakness, or state of a person or thing . ex- good , bad , wise , noble.
- Adjective of quantity = it denotes the quantity of a thing . ex- much , more , huge , a little , some
- Numeral Adjective = it denotes the number of persons or things . ex - one , two , many , some , several , each .
- Demonostrative Adjective = it points out which person or things are meant . ex- this , that , those , such
- Distributive Adjective = it denotes the person or a thing seperately. ex - each , every , either , neither.
- Interrogative Adjective = Before a noun for asking questions . ex- which , Whose , what
- Possessive Adjective = To denote possession . ex - my, our ,your, his , her, their.
