Explanation:

 {2x}^{2}  + 7x + 3 = 0 \\  {2x}^{2}  + x + 6x + 3 = 0 \\ x(2x + 1) + 3(2x + 3) = 0 \\ (x + 3)(2x + 3) = 0 \\ x =  - 3 \\ x =  \frac{ - 3}{2}  \\

Here, -3 and

 \frac{ - 3}{2}

are the zeroes. So,

 \alpha  =  - 3 \\  \beta  =  \frac{ - 3}{2}

  1.  { \alpha }^{2}  +  { \beta }^{2}  \\ ( - 3)^{2}  +  { \frac{( - 3)}{(2)} }^{2}  \\ 9 +  \frac{9}{4}  \\  \frac{45}{9}
  2.  { \alpha }^{3}  +  { \beta }^{3}  \\  { - 9}^{3}  +  { \frac{ (- 3)}{(2)} }^{3}  \\  - 729 +  \frac{27}{8}  \\  \frac{5859}{8}
