Climate Changes with Latitude. Places located at high latitudes (far from the equator) receive less sunlight than places at low latitudes (close to the equator). The amount of sunlight and the amount of precipitation affects the types of plants and animals that can live in a place.

Latitudes affect the climate of a place in different ways.
First, places close to the equator receive more sunlight, as such, the farther you are from the equator, the less sunlight you receive.
Secondly, depending on your latitude, there are prevailing winds (atmospheric circles), 'Hadley 0-30°, Ferrell 30-60° and Polar cells 60-90° that play a crucial role in determining the climate of a place. This greatly affect the heat and pressure distribution on the earth surface.
Other factors that affect the climate of the place other than latitudes include; Closeness to the sea, elevation etc.
