Now assuming ideal conditions and pure water in this case, the refractive index is 1.333

So speed of light in pure water with refractive index 1.333= 2.25E8 m/s

Time taken to travel 500m= ( 500/2.25E8) = 2.22 μs

So the duration comes out to be 2.22 micro seconds when water is pure and conditions are ideal.
