9. (i) A path of 8 m width runs around the outside of a circular park whose radius is 17 m. Find the area of the path.

(ii) A park is of the shape of a circle of diameter 7 m. It is surrounded a by a path of width of 0.7 m. Find the expenditure of cementing path, if its cost is ? 110 per sq m. ​

a) For bigger circle

radius=8+17

=25m

area of circle= πr²

= 22/7*25*25

=1964.28 m²

For inner circle

radius = 17 m

area of inner circle= 22/7*17*17

=908.28 m²

• • Area of circular path= area of bigger circle-area of smaller circle

= 1964.28-908.28

=1056 m²

b)

For outer circle

radius=7+0.7 m

= 7.7 m

area=22/7*7.7*7.7

=186.34 m²

For inner circle

radius= 7 m

area of inner circle=22/7*7*7

=154 m²

therefore

Area of path= area of outer circle- area of inner circle

= 186.34-154 m²

32.34 m²

total expenditure of cementing the path= 32.34*110

= 3557.4
