Given Info : If the equation of an wave can be represented as y = 5 sin(3.6t + 0.018x + π/4) m

To find : the amplitude and wavelength of the wave are ..

solution : equation of wave is y = 5 sin(3.6t + 0.018x + π/4)

amplitude is the maximum displacement covered by wave from the equilibrium position.

maximum value of y is 5

so, amplitude of wave is 5 m.

wavelength is the separation between two consecutive crest or trough.

it can be found by k = 2π/λ

where k is coefficient of x of wave equation.

from above equation,

k = 0.018 = 2π/λ

⇒λ = 2π/0.018 ≈ 349 m

Therefore the wavelength of the wave is 349 m.
