9. In a basket of fruits, 1/5 were apples , 4/15 were oranges , 1/6 were pears and the remaining were bananas. If there were 11 bananas in the basket, find the total number of fruits in the basket. Also find the number of oranges and pears in the basket.

so here

no of apples=1/5.x=x/5

no of oranges=4/15.x=4x/15

no of pears=1/6.x=x/6

no of bananas=11

so according to the given condition

x=x/5+4x/15+x/6+11

=(x/5×6/6)+(4x/15×2/2)+(x/6×5/5)+11

=(6x/30+8x/30+5x/30)+11

=(6x+8x+5x/30)+11

=19x/30+11

so multiplying dividing throughout by 30

we get

30x=19x+330

i.e. 11x=330

x=30

so this then

no of oranges=4x/15

=4×30/15

=4×2

=8

no of pears=x/6

=30/6

=5

hence total number of fruits in basket is 30 and no of oranges is 8 and no of pears is 5
