9. In the electric circuit given below, the reading of

Given:

voltage = 10 V

5 resistors connected in parallel

To Find:

Ammeter reading

Solution:

we know,

Ohms Law

V = I R

now,

Equivalent resistance =  \frac{1}{R}  = \frac{1}{10} + \frac{1}{10} + \frac{1}{10} + \frac{1}{10} + \frac{1}{10}

\frac{1}{R} = \frac{5}{10} = \frac{1}{2}

R = 2

now,

I (equivalent current) = V / R = 10 / 2 = 5 A

Now,

According to the circuit, all the resistors have the same value so the current is equally distributed throughout the resistors so 1A for each branch.

Now the ammeter is in direct connection with 3 resistors so 3A of current is passed through the ammeter.

So, the reading of the ammeter is 3A.
