The measurements of ∠BAD = 50°

Given:

In triangle ABC,

AB= AC and ∠B = 40°

AD is the median

To find:

The measurement of ∠ BAD

Solution:

In Triangle ABC

AB= AC

⇒ ∠ABC = ∠ACB = 40° ---(1)  [ angles opposite to equal side are equal ]

As we know sum of angles in a triangle = 180°

In triangle ABC

∠BAC +∠ABC + ∠ABC = 180°

∠BAC +40° + 40° = 180°  [ From(1)]

∠BAC = 100

Here, median AD will divides ∠BAC equally  [ since AB = AC]

∠BAD = ∠BAC/2 = 100°/2 = 50°

Therefore, ∠BAD = 50°
