Find the number of women that is equal to a man:

9 men = 12 women

1 man = 12/9 = 4/3 women

Find the number of women needed if there are only 6 men:

Difference in number of men = 9 - 6 = 3

3 men = 3(4/3) women

3 men = 4 women

Answer: 4 women are needed.
