The no. of moles of Magnesium

Solution:

  • Avogadro's number is the number of particles like atoms or molecules or formula units in 1 mole of any substance.
  • This is represented as " \bold{N_A}".
  • N_A = 6.023 \times 10^2^3 atoms/molecules/formula units

We can say,

1 mole of Magnesium consists of 6.023 \times 10^2^3 \:atoms

i.e., 6.023 \times 10^2^3 \:atoms are present in 1 mole of Magnesium

⇒ 1 atom will be present in → \frac{1}{6.023\times 10^2^3} moles of Magnesium

It is given that in the metallic piece of Magnesium, there are 8.46 \times 10^2^4 atoms present.

Therefore,

8.46 \times 10^2^4 atoms of Magnesium will be present in,

= \frac{1}{6.023\times 10^2^3} \times 8.46 \times 10^2^4

=  \frac{8.46}{6.023} \times 10^2^4\times 10^-^2^3

= 1.404 \times 10

= \bold{14.04\:moles \:of\:Magnesium}
