Means, Perimeter of square is 72 cm

=> 4a = 72

=> a = 72/4 = 18 cm

Area of Square = a²

=> 18² = 324 cm²

Concept :-

In the question, it is given that perimeter of a rectangle and square are equal (i.e. 72 cm) it means that perimeter of square is there from which side can be obtained and from side area can be obtained. So, from this we will find our answer.

Given :-

Perimeter of a rectangle = Perimeter of a square = 72 cm

Formula to be used are:-

Perimeter of square = 4 x side

Area of square = (side)^{2}

Solution :-

=> Perimeter of a rectangle = Perimeter of a square

=> 72 cm = 4 x side

=> side = \frac{72 cm}{4} \\ \\ => side = 18 cm

Now, we have side and from that we will find area.

=> Area of square = (side)^{2}

=> Area of square = (18 cm)^{2}

=> Area of square = 324 \: cm^{2}

Answer :-

Area of the square = 324 cm^{2}
