Answers
suppose starting point is A, 12m towards east this is B then she turned 3m south or right this point is C again she turned right or west this point is DC-AB=3m .DAF=Right angle triangle hence line segment DF= Base-(b) AF= perpendicular (p) DA= height- (h).
b= 4cm, p= 3cm. h= √4²+3²=√16+9=√25=5 .
The answer is 5m.
The answer is 5 cm
GIVEN
Renuka walked 12 m towards east. Then she turned to the right and walked 3 m. Again she turned to the right and walked 16m.
TO FIND
How far is she from the starting point?
SOLUTION
We can simply solve the above problem as follows;
Let the starting point be 'O'.
Distance towards East, OA = 12 meters
Distance towards North, AB = 3 meters
Distance towards West, BC = 16 meters
Distance between Starting point and Final point = CO
Let us extend Point 'O' to P
Such that,
OP = AB = 3 meters
And,
OA = BP = 12 meters
PC = 16-12 = 4 meters
In ΔPCO
Applying pythagorus theorem in ΔPCO
CO² = PC² +PO²
= 3² + 4²
= 9 + 16
CO² = 25
CO = √25 = 5 cm
Hence, The answer is 5 cm
