9 similar oranges and 9 similar guavas in a box had a total mass of 3.76 kg. When 1 guava and all oranges were taken out, the mass became 2.56 kg. Each guava is 3 times as heavy as each orange. Find the mass of the basket when it is empty. Give your answers in grams.

Answer:

1 guava = 3oranges

so 9 guava = 27 oranges

27 + 9ornges+weight of bag = 3.76kg

since 1 guava is 3 oranges

substitute  1 guava with 3 oranges

9 oranges +3 oranges = 3.76-2.56

12 oranges= 1.2kg

1 orange =0.1kg

36 oranges =3.6 kg

weight of bag = 3.76-3.6

= 0.16 kg

weight of bag when empty is 0.16 kg or 16 grams
