1) 4 (m + 3) = 18

{ \ value \ of \ m \ = \ 1.5}

Step-by-step explanation:

{ \ Given, \ simple \ equation \ : \ 4 \ ( m+3) \ = \ 18}

Divide both sides by 4 , we get

{ \ m+3 \ =} \cancel\frac{18}{2}

{ \ m+3 \ =} \frac{9}{2}

Subtract 3 , both sides , we get

m + 3 - 3 = 4.5 - 3

m=1.5

Therefore,

Value of m = 1.5

Verification:

Substitute m = 1.5 in given equation, we get

LHS = 4(1.5+3)

= 4× 4.5

= 18

= RHS.

2) -2(x + 3) = 5

x+3 = \frac{-5}{2}

x= \frac{-5}{2} - \frac{-3}{1}

x = \frac{-5-6}{2}

x= \frac{-11}{2}
