1. Upper fixed point is the boiling point of pure water at normal atmospheric pressure.

2. Lower fixed point is the melting point of pure ice at normal atmospheric pressure.

We know that,

• Normal atmospheric pressure = 1 atm

Fahrenheit scale :

⟩ UFP = 212 °F

⟩ LFP = 32 °F

⟩ No. of divisions = 212 - 32 = 180

Celsius scale :

⟩ UFP = 100 °C

⟩ LFP = 0 °C

⟩ No. of divisions = 100 - 0 = 100

Kelvin scale :

⟩ UFP = 373 K

⟩ LFP = 273 K

⟩ No. of divisions = 373 - 273 = 100

Answer:

1. Upper fixed point is the boiling point of pure water at normal atmospheric pressure.

2. Lower fixed point is the melting point of pure ice at normal atmospheric pressure..

We know that,

• Normal atmospheric pressure = 1 atm

❖ Fahrenheit scale :

⟩ UFP = 212 °F

⟩ LFP = 32 °F

⟩ No. of divisions = 212 - 32 = 180

❖ Celsius scale :

⟩ UFP = 100 °C

⟩ LFP = 0 °C

⟩ No. of divisions = 100 - 0 = 100

❖ Kelvin scale :

⟩ UFP = 373 K

⟩ LFP = 273 K

⟩ No. of divisions = 373 - 273 = 100
