The ratio of meiotic divisions that occur in anther and megasporangium respectively is  2.) alfa:1

Meotic divsions:

  • In plants, a megaspore mother cell, also known as a megasporocyte, is a diploid cell that will undergo meiosis, giving rise to four haploid megaspores. The spores produce at least one haploid female gametophyte (megagametophytes). Within the megasporangium tissue, the megaspore mother cell develops.
  • The megagametophyte, also known as the female gametophyte or embryo sac, develops from the remaining functioning megaspore via three mitotic divisions, and at the mature stage, it has eight nuclei and seven cells (one egg cell, two synergids, one central cell and three antipodals).
  • The initial archesporial cell arises from one of the hypodermal cells in the ovule's nucellus. A periclinal division of an archesporial cell to create an outer main parietal cell multiplies the number of cells in the sporogenous mass.
