Answer:

Let the cofficient be a then,

We know that perimeter of rectangle is 2(l+b),

l= 8a

b=4a

2(8a+4a)=120cm

2(12a) =120cm

24a= 120a

a=120/24

a=5

l=8×5=40

b=4×5=20

HENCE,length be 40 and breadth be 20cm

Given that:

  • The sides of a rectangle are in the ratio 8 : 4 and its perimeter is 120 cm.

To Find:

  • The length and breadth of the rectangle.

Let us assume:

  • The length and breadth of the rectangle be 8x and 4x respectively.

Formula used:

  • Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

According to the question.

ㅤ↠ㅤ2(8x + 4x) = 120

ㅤ↠ㅤ2(12x) = 120

ㅤ↠ㅤ24x = 120

ㅤ↠ㅤx = 120/24

ㅤ↠ㅤx = 5

Hence,

  • Length = 8x = 8(5) = 40 cm
  • Breadth = 4x = 4(5) = 20 cm
