Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The sum of the numerator and the denominator

The sum of the numerator and the denominatorof a fraction is equal to 7.

Four times the numerator is 8 less than 5 times the denominator.

To find:-

find the fraction.

Solution:-

Let the numerator be A

and the denominator be B

The sum of them is 7

=>A+B=7.......(1)

=>A=7-B.....(2)

4 times the numerator=4A

8 less than 5time the denominator=5B-8

Four times the numerator is 8 less than 5 times the denominator.

=>4A=5B-8

=>4(7-B)=5B-8

=>28-4B=5B-8

=>28+8=5B+4B

=>36=9B

=>9B=36

=>B=36/9

=>B=4

Substituting the value of B in (2)

=>A=7-4

=>A=3

Therefore , A=3 and B=4

Answer:-

The fraction is A/B=3/4
