Answer:

✳ The Half of the second number is 2.

   SOLUTION

Let us assume that the first number is 'x'.

Let us assume that the second number is 'y'.

It is said that the sum of two numbers is 19.

\implies

x + y = 19\longrightarrow (1)

It is also said that 1/3 rd of the first number is 5 .

\implies

\sf \dfrac{1}{3}x = 5

x = 3 × 5

x = 15\longrightarrow (2)

We got the value of 'x' from (2) , now if we substitute the value of 'x' in (1) we will get the value of 'y'.

\implies

x + y = 19

\implies

15 + y = 19

\implies

y = 4

We are asked to find half of the second number.

We obtained the value of second number (y) as 4

\sf  \dfrac{1}{2}* 4 = 2

\boxed{\sf \red \bigstar \: Half \:of\: the\: second \:number = 4 }
