Once upon a time there was an old lady. She lived alone. Her sight
began to deteriorate; finally she became blind. Since she was affluent, she
hired a doctor. She said to him, ‘If you cure my eyesight, I shall give you a
high fee.’ The doctor happily agreed.
He would visit the old lady daily for the treatment
procedure. He was of greedy nature. He began coveting the lady’s rare
furniture. His covetousness reached so high that he decided to nick the pieces
he admired the most. he intentionally delayed the treatment procedures.
After he had taken away enough furniture, he finished
treating the old lady’s eyes. The lady’s eyesight was partially recovered. However,
she found some pieces of her dear furniture missing. Now the doctor demanded
his fee from the lady. Quite contrary to the doctor’s expectation, the lady
refused to pay. She said, ‘I won’t pay you unless you treat my eye-sight
completely.’
The angry doctor filed a case against her in the court. At
the court the judge asked the lady, ‘Why are you not paying the doctor his fee?’ The lady said, ‘I
had promised to pay only on the condition of getting my eye-sight back. I am
unable to see all of my furniture!’
The judge understood everything. He gave the verdict in favor
of the old lady.
