Given,

9:x::x:16

To find,

The value of x.

Solution,

We can easily solve this problem by following the given steps.

According to the question,

We have the following:

9:x::x:16

So, we have:

 \frac{9}{x}  =  \frac{x}{16}

Now, to find the value of x, we will use the cross multiplication method.

(x×x) = (16×9)

x² = 144

x = √144

x = 12

(Note that when we square root a number then the value obtained is both positive and negative. But in this case, all the numbers are positive so we have taken the positive value.)

Hence, the value of x is 12.
