Girl's age 9 years ago = x - 9 years
Girl's age 9 years hence = x + 9 years
According to the question,
x + 9 = 3( x - 9)
x + 9 = 3x - 27
3x - x = 36
2x = 36
x = 18

Hence, the girl's present age is 18 years
