The number of  applicants had experience in both sales and publishing is 43.

Explanation:

As per given ,

The number of people applied for a job as a salesperson for a book publishing company : U= 90

Let A = number of applicants have experience in sales.

B = number of applicants have experience in publishing.

Then, A' = number of applicants have no experience in sales.

B' = number of applicants have no experience in publishing.

Number of applicants had never worked in sales or in publishing business.

A'∩B' = 10

Since A'∩B' = U- A ∪B

⇒ A ∪B = U- A'∩B' = 90-10=80

Also, A ∪B  = A+B- A∩B

Put A= 65 ,B= 58 and A ∪B =80, we get

80 = 65+58- A∩B

⇒  A∩B= 123-80 =43

Therefore ,the number of  applicants had experience in both sales and publishing  = 43
