Question :

Find the Maximum height reached by the stone if it is thrown upwards with a velocity of 20 m/s. ( Take g = 10 m/s²)

Given :

  • Initial velocity of the stone = 20 m/s
  • Acceleration due to gravity = 10 m/s²

To find :

  • Maximum height reached by the stone

Solution :

Maximum height reached when the stone is thrown upwards is given by ,

 \dag {\boxed {\rm{ \: h =  \frac{ {u}^{2} }{2g}  \: }}}

We have ,

  • u = 20 m/s
  • g = 10 m/s²

By substituting the values ,

 :  \implies \rm \: h =  \dfrac{(10) {}^{2} }{2(10)}  \\  \\   : \implies \rm \: h =  \frac{100}{20}  \\  \\    : \implies \rm \: h =  \frac{ \cancel{100}}{ \cancel{20}}  \\  \\  :  \implies \rm \: h = 5 \: m

∴ The Maximum height reached by the stone when it is thrown vertically thrown with a velocity of 20 m/s and g as 10 m/s² is 5m.
