Given :

Mass (m)  = 50 Kg

Potential Energy (PE) = 9800 J

To Find :

Height

Solution :

We know, The ability of a body to do work due to its special position or configuration, is called potential energy of the body.

    Potential Energy (PE) = mgh

where, m = mass; g = acceleration due to gravity; h = height

∴ Height to which the mass was raised = \frac{PE}{mg}

                                                                 = \frac{9800}{50 * 9.8}

                                                                 = 20 m

Therefore, the height to which the mass of 50 Kg was raised so that its potential energy is 9800 J is 20 m.
