hydrogen can be obtained by reacting the given solution with some other acid or base.

when sodium is dropped into cold water it burn quickly because it react with water form hydrogen gas which catches fire.

sodium hydroxide+zinc→sodium zincate+hydrogen.

we could obtain hydrogen from sodium hydroxide solution by simply adding aluminium to it it will give rise to sodium aluminate and hydrogen gas will be evolved
