6 persons paid -
$6y \: rupees$

If
$y = x + 4$
then
$6y = 6(x + 4)$

$9x = 6(x + 4) \\ 9x = 6x + 24 \\ 9x - 6x = 24 \\ 3x = 24 \\ x = \frac{24}{3} \\ x = 8$

Fund =
$9x = 9 \times 8 = 72 \: rupees$

Fund = ₹72
