Explanation:

ANSWER:-

  1. Kezia's father punished Kezia as she had not taken the permission of her father to take the pages of the speech which were very important. She did not do it intentionally but because it was her father's birthday and she wanted to gift a pin cushion and could not get what to stuff inside, so she tore the pieces to stuff it inside. Yes, it was right in doing so but it was a little harsh for that little girl. Moreover the speech was very important and it is obvious for father to beat her out of anguish.
  2. The little girl Kezia started to make a pin cushion by the idea suggested by her grandmother, for her father's birthday was approaching and she wanted to gift her father on his birthday. It was her grandmother's Idea to gift, and this shows how her grandmother wanted to bond everyone together.
  3. When she saw through the fence, she saw Mr. McDonald and his children playing 'Tag' in their garden. They looked so happy and Kezia made a decision that all fathers are not the same. She thought that time that her father was not good and hated her. But that was not so.
  4. Kezia felt that her father was a giant when he used to yawn, his big mouth scared Kezia. And also, his father used to call her a brown owl ; she used to see her father on Sunday afternoon snoring loudly and mother in the world of newspaper.
  5. One day, Kezia's mother fell ill seriously. Her grandmother had to accompany her mother to the hospital. Earlier, Kezia used to sleep with her grandmother but now she was gone. Her cook, Alice put her to sleep and told Kezia not to wake her poor father in night screaming "Help! Help!" as she used to see nightmares. That night she again saw the same nightmare of a butcher with knife and a rope, and then started screaming. Then she woke to see her father beside her. Her father took her to his room and tucked her in the bed, removing the newspaper. That night she realised that her father was hard, and got too tired to play with her like their neighbours'. The hardness was a good hardness .

\underline\pink{QUES :-}  What made kezia's father punish her? was he right in doing so?

1. LONG ANSWER :- One  day her grandmother told her to make a pin-cushion to gift him on his birthday which was approaching. So, she stitched cotton  cloth three sides and looked for the things that could be stuffed into the stitched  cloth. Soon she found out many sheets of paper. Actually they contained her father’s  speech for the Port Authority. She tore them into pieces and stuffed her case.

One day when her father looked for the papers, he did not find them. After some  time, he came to know that Kezia had tom them into pieces to make a pin-cushion. He  got infuriated and beat her with a ruler. No , he was wrong because beating a child in any circumstances is not accepted ..

SHORT ANSWER :- She tore important papers of her father to stuff in the pin cushion because she was  making a gift to present to her father. Since the papers had her father’s speech  written on it, she was punished for tearing it.

\underline\red{QUES :- } Why did kezia feel that her father was like a giant?

4.  According to kezia, her father was an emotionless  person. He never spoke to Kezia lovingly and calmly. He scolded Kezia and reprimanded  her for making mistakes. Kezia stammered in front of her father since he was a very  huge and giant like figure far away from the warmth of a father..

\underline\blue{QUES :- } When and how does kezias view of her father undergo a change?

5. When Kezia's mother was hospitalized and her grandmother accompanied her, she was left alone at home. Although her father was there with her, but since she was pretty scared of him, she started having nightmares of a butcher with a knife. She felt secured with her father near her. Then she realized that her father was busy with work and had no time to play. She even realized that her father loved her but didn't have the art of expressing it. Thus, her attitude towards her father changed towards positive.
