Given,

An equation 9x² +7x - 2 = 0

To find,

The roots of the equation

Solution,

9x² +7x - 2 = 0

Since it has equal roots the value of the discriminant of the equation would always be zero.

D = b²-4ac

D = 0, where a is the coefficient of x², b is the coefficient of x. and c is the constant term.

Putting the values in the equation,

⇒   D = (7)²-4(9)(-2)=0

⇒   D = 49+72

⇒   D = 121.

Since, D is not equal to zero so the equation has not equal roots.

The roots of the equation can be further calculated by,

⇒   x = (-b + √D)/2a and x = = (-b - √D)/2a

⇒   x = (-7 + √121) / 2(7) and x = (-7 - √121) / 2(7)

⇒   x = (-7 + 11) / 14 and x = (-7 - 11) / 14

 x = 2/7 and x =  -9/7.

Hence, x = 2/7 and x = -9/7 are the roots of the equation 9x² +7x - 2 = 0.
