Given:

A 0.028 cubic meter of ivory weighs 51.818 kilograms.

To find:

The weight of 10 ivory billiard balls 6.35 cm in diameter

Solution:

The diameter of each ivory ball = 6.35 cm

So, The radius of each ivory ball = \frac{6.35}{2} = 3.175 cm

∴ The volume of each ivory ball is,

= \frac{4}{3} \pi r^3

= \frac{4}{3} \times \frac{22}{7} \times 3.175^3

= \frac{4}{3} \times \frac{22}{7} \times 32

= \bold{134.095 \:cm^3}

∴ The volume of 10 such ivory balls is,

= 10 × 134.095 cm³

= 1340.95 cm³

1341 cm³

If 0.028 cm³ of ivory weighs = 51.818 kg

Then,

1341 cm³ of ivory will weigh = \frac{51.818}{0.028} \times 1341 = \bold{2481712.07 kg}

Thus, the weight of 10 ivory billiard balls is → 2481712.07 kg.
