Potential energy = mgh

Where m = mass of ball = 0.5 kg

g = acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m sec^2

v = velocity of ball = 20 m/s

h = maximum height

Hence kinetic energy = 1/2 * 0.5 * 20 * 20 = 100 joules

Now potential energy = 0.5 * 9.8 * h = 100

Maximum height = 100/4.9 = 20.4 m
