A 1.5 kg bowling ball is thrown with a speed of 10 m/s. It hits a standing pin having a mass of 0.5 kg. The ball moves with a velocity of 8 m/s after the collision. With what velocity does the pin roll in the same direction as the ball?

1.5×10 + 0.5×8 = V(1.5+ 0.5)

15 + 4 = 2V

2V = 19

V = 19/2

Thus V = 9.5m/s

v₂=1.2 m/s

m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2

(1.5)(10)+(0.5)(0)=(1.5)(8)+(0.5)(v₂)

15=12.5v₂

15/12.5

v₂= 1.2 m/s
