A 1 kg sheet of tin sinks in water but if the same sheet is converted into a box or boat it floats. Why?

The sheet of a sink in the water because the density of the Tin is higher than that of water....
When the sheet is converted into a box or both then due to the entering of lot of Light air in the box or boat, the average density of the box or boat made of tin sheet becomes less than that of the water and hence it floats in water.
