Given,

10 bit DAC has a step size of 10 mv.

n =10 bits

To Find,

  • full-scale output voltage
  • the percentage resolution

Solution,

the total voltage level is given to the DAC and it is calculated as:

FSO (VFS) = total steps x step size

FSO (V_{FS}) = (2^{N} -1) x step size

V_{FS} = (1023) x 10 x 10^{-3}

V_{FS} = 10.23 V

the resolution R is calculated as :

R = \frac{V_{FS} }{2^{N}-1 }

no. of levels = 2^{N} -1

V_{r} is reference voltage 'or' full-scale voltage

R = \frac{10.23}{2^{10}-1 } x 100

R = 1%

Hence the full-scale output voltage is 10.23 V and the percentage resolution is 1%.
