base of the ladder is 6m from the wall

as the wall makes an angle of 90° i.e right angle then

using the pythagoras theorem to find the length of the wall does the top of the ladder reach ​

here

hypotenuse = 10 m

base = 6 m

we need to find the perpendicular

then

h²= p² + b²

10²= p² + 6²

100 = p² + 36

100 - 36 = p²

64 = p²

p = √64

p = 8 m
