Given : a 100 kg mixture of two different types of nuts costa $550.

type A costs $4 per kg and type B costs $7 per kg

To Find : how many of each type were used?

Solution:

Let say Type A  =  x  kg

Then Type B = 100 - x  kg

Cost of Type A = 4x  Rs

Cost of Type B = 7(100 - x)   Rs

Total Cost = 4x + 7(100 - x)

= 4x + 700 - 7x

= 700 - 3x

700 - 3x = 550

=> 3x = 150

=> x = 50

100 - x = 50

Each type used = 50 kg
